I have been a fan of Diana's since I read my first book by her Saved By The Seal! She has a way of making you feel like your in the story! In The Lilac Sky you feel like you have been dropped right into troma and the details!!! You can imagine the actual place and picture it in your head! Isla and rygen are such great characters who I thought about days after I read it.....take a chance! I promise you won't be dissapointed!
First.... I do not like to read YA. At. All.
However, I love Diana Gardin's books,so I thought I'd try it.
I took me a few tries to start it because of my dislike of the genre, but once I really started reading it..... I was addicted! I love Isla and Rygen. I'd love to smack her father.
Downside. ... it ended and I need to read more, like now.
This is not the usual type of book that this author writes, and I must admit I am not a fan of sci-fi, but I think I have been converted. When Isla is placed into a cylinder by her parents, and catapulted into space, she ends up crash landing on a foreign planet. When she is rescued by Halo, Sonnet, and Rygen, she learns that all is not as it seems.
This is a fast paced, sweet, mysterious, and suspenseful, storyline, and as usual Diana does not disappoint with her books. I look forward to reading the next book from this author.

The Lilac Sky is author Diana Gardin's first attempt at young adult science fiction/fantasy, and I would say it's a smashing success! She's created and crafted the vivid, compelling universe of Troma and filled it with a variety of colorful, layered, nuanced characters.
The Lilac Sky is the story of Isla, the last remaining human who was evacuated from a dying Earth. Isla, who turns 18 early on in the novel, now struggles to come of age while adapting to a new environment vastly different than the one she fled and the sociopolitical expectations she faces from Troma's governing body.
Isla navigates her new life in the company of early 20-somethings -- Juliet, Sonnet, Halo, Ebin, and Rygen -- and finds herself ensconced in a bit of a love triangle with the last two. The desire to follow her heart versus the expectations placed upon her leads to tension and challenges that excite and enamor readers.
Though the novel wraps up to a satisfying conclusion, it does end with lingering questions, while generating new ones, as well, and Isla's life is still in peril, though not in immediate danger.
Though sci-fi/fantasy is not a genre I read with frequency, I rather enjoyed the tale Gardin wove. It was strange and different in the best possible way, stretching one's imagination without being "too out-there" to engage readers. I think young adult readers would grasp on to this series, and I eagerly anticipate Gardin's next installment.
I must say, Diana Gardin''s imagination is absolutely out of the world. Pun intended. Heehee! I love her as an author because she writes all your books as if she was there. Especially The Lilac Sky, I really really felt like I was watching a movie in my head. I have stated this before but the details in her books are amazing. With this book it's very important for the details. That is what I was looking for when I started this book and Ms Gardin, you DID NOT disappoint. My mind and body crave her books and I know this because when I read her books I have a satisfying feeling, that I don't get with to many authors. I am watching her grow with every book I read of hers. She is an amazing author and after this one she is my top 1! I was told this is her best yet and oh my, it certainly is! More than likely, it will be awhile until I can find another book that will satisfy me like The Lilac Sky. I didn't want to finish it!!!!
Rygen is so......OMG....I don't even have the words! I actually love and lust after him. Shhhhh......don't tell my hubby. Har Isla is so so cool. I want to know her and be friends with her. (As long as she will share Rygen) ;-)
BRAVO BRAVO!!!!!!! And ~SIGH~ When Isla and Rygen, 'merged', I just grabbed my heart and yup, SIGHED!!!

Diana does not disappoint in this amazing young adult book! I loved every second of it and recommend it for a one click!!
I enjoyed reading every word! I absolutely can't wait to read the continuation. I didn't realize that I could or would enjoy Sci-fi...but I was completely captivated by the storyline. The Lilac Sky is a must read!
